Program Description
Since 1979 Kappa Omega Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority has hosted an annual Graduation Awards Ceremony to reach out to Kern County students preparing to further their education.

Middle school principals and counselors submit to our chapter the names of African American honor roll students that they invite to our ceremony. At the event each of these students are presented a certificate and applauded for their achievement.

Over the past 30 years our chapter has awarded over 1000 scholarships totaling nearly $300,000 to Kern County high school seniors heading for college. A scholarship application is mailed to all African American seniors in the Kern High School District. Scholarship winners are recognized at the Graduation Awards Ceremony.
